Gyre 29 is an animation of a two-dimensional fluid flow. The video begins with a regular collection of stripes, colored to resemble the sky and the ocean. The strict organization rapidly gives way to an active, dynamic set of nested swirling motions. These eddies stretch and contort the colors, blending them at their boundaries, until only large, subdued, chaotic vortexes remain. The simulation uses my own fluids solver:
