Despite being one of the more popularly shared artists of the late 80s scene, the Polish contortionist who we now only know as “Elizabeth“ represents a case study in poor preservation of an artist through contemporary history. What little word-of mouth facts that have survived are as follow: -She was born in the 1960s - She had a natural aptitude for flexibility, as she was allegedly called out by her teacher in a dance class for her talents - That same teacher would refer her to Jan Ruttkowski, a famed contortion coach of the mid 20th century who also coached Ursula “Ula“ Matteson and Lena Drejska in the same period as “Elizabeth“ - Her career as a performing contortionist spanned three years and she was skilled in high level front and back bending. She ended her career by allegedly returning to her family, marrying and leaving show business forever to start a household of her own. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This clip was originally circulated as “Elisabeth01 Tape017“ As far as commentary goes, Elizabeth is a highly minimalistic (artistically-speaking) performer, and with a range of motion like that, it's hard to disagree with the choice. Most notably, her waist and middle-lower back are capable of twisting to great effect to complement her bends. This clip does not even appear to depict a staged performance, but rather a behind-the-scenes demo of her skills. All talk aside, enjoy one of the “Three Polish Greats“ of the late 20th century!
