The Simpsons are hired as caretakers at Mr. Burns' haunted resort while it is closed for the winter in a parody of The Shining. Burns believes that cutting the cable television wire and seizing the beer will ensure the family's hard work. When Willie, the groundskeeper, discovers that Bart has the ability to read his thoughts, he suggests that he use it to summon him if Homer goes nuts. Homer goes insane when he is denied his two favorite things: beer and television. Homer is told by a phantom Moe that he must murder his family in order to have a beer. Homer attacks Marge, who defends herself with a baseball bat. Marge locks Homer in the pantry to calm him down after he faints in fright after seeing his reflection in a mirror. Homer eventually regains his sanity, but Moe and a gang of ghouls don't. Homer begins chasing Marge and the kids with an axe while they are eating dinner. Willie abandons his portable TV in the snow to come to the family's rescue after Bart uses his skills to summon him. Homer kills h
