In 2013, Victoria's Vital Signs graders told us that Housing and Homelessness were the third and fourth most important issues facing Greater Victoria, with Addictions placing ninth on that list. For more than 20 years, Anawim Companions Society has run Anawim House; it is a day house for people living in poverty who are trying to find a better life for themselves. Anawim offers meals, hot showers, laundry and friendship. The house's seven bedrooms mean seven men live there full-time, clean and sober, recovering from their time on the street - for as long as it takes. By giving recovering addicts a home for as long as they need it, Anawim House is changing lives. Learn more about Anawim Companion Society on Victoria's Community Knowledge Centre:
