Loki, The God of Mischief lived a long and storied life in the MCU, getting to be the villain, slowly turning to the side of heroes and eventually ending up sacrificing himself in the epic Infinity War. But that was a war only won by the use of time travel, and anyone with a nose for sci-fi knows that messing around in time only leads to further complications. And sure enough - messing with time resulted in Loki stealing the Tesseract and running away back in 2012 after his first battle with the Avengers. But his theft isn’t gonna go unpunished. Tracked down by the mysterious Time Variance Agency, Loki is to stand trial for his crimes against the timeline, before getting recruited by the mysterious Agent Mobius to instead capture a different time criminal… one that may be all too familiar to our shifty Asgardian. With the MCU always expanding and giving us a slew of TV shows to enjoy on Disney , the next in line is Tom Hiddleston headlining his own series with the newly premiered Loki. And considering that it is a time traveling story set in the MCU, which has now existed for well over a decade and spanned nearly two dozen films with plenty more on the way, there is absolutely no doubt that the show’s writers are going to have a field day putting in as many sly references, callbacks and easter eggs to the comics and the MCU continuity as they possibly can. In this fifth episode, Loki has found himself pruned and sent to a void where he meets another Loki Variant… and another… and another… and a whole bunch more, all while Sylvie attempts to choke the truth of the TVA out of Ravonna Renslayer with limited luck. Desperate to find out who truly is behind the TVA and its actions, they all have to make it through the mighty beast Alioth… but at what costs?
