Steel making. Letchworth, near London. L/S of steel scrap, M/S of man cutting wheel with red hot flame. M/S of a huge pot of molten metal, it is poured in a convertor and lumps of ferro-silicon are thrown in to raise temperature. Various shots of the conversion process, flame dies down and the conversion is complete. Various shots of flames and sparks flying about. Various shots as they make a railway wheel, sand in jolted and nails are put in to strengthen the mould. M/S as moulds are filled with white hot metal. M/S of a bar being bent under a machine to test for stress. Various shots pneumatic chisel cutting out wheel and swing grinders smoothing away irregularities.
