New Zealand will be rolling out its biggest clean energy project in the nation’s history by replacing half of the coal being used at its Glenbrook steel factory with electrical power. The New Zealand government will allocate NZD$140 million to co-fund the transition which will account for five per cent of the country’s 2030 carbon emissions reduction target. The deal will see the steel mill reduce more emissions than the previous 66 green projects approved by the country’s government.
