Nabi Samuel This is the burial place of Samuel the prophet at Mizpah near Jerusalem. Samuel or shama-El in Hebrew means 'God has heard', he was named so by his mother Hannah who was childless, she had gone to Shiloh to pray to God, asking for a child. When the Israelites first entered the Holy Land they had camped at Shiloh, a portable Tabernacle was built there to house the Arc of the Covenant where the stone slabs of the 10 commandments were kept together with a golden jar of Manna and Aaron's Rod. It was at Shiloh that the promised land was divided between the 12 tribes of Israel. Samuel had anointed the young shepherd Saul as Israel's first king. The Arc of the Covenant had stayed at Shiloh for 369 years and was later moved to king Solomon's Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Read more here : Music: YouTube Audio Library
