Constantine’s presentation was an ode to the long lost art of reading instructions. While computer programming is without a doubt complicated, there is a surefire first step: read the manual. With sage advice, Constantine reminded the audience that it is ok not to know what to do, but what is not ok, is not trying. Just make sure to read the manual before you start. Constantine “Costya“ is a Silicon Valley software engineer currently leading the data infrastructure team at Ellation, Inc.—best known as the parent company of Crunchyroll, the “Netflix for anime.“ His interests and experience include high-performance computing, machine learning, massively distributed systems, NoSQL databases, programming language theory, and arguing vociferously about utter nonsense on the Internet.
