Megachile pluto (‘Wallace’s giant bee’) is the world’s biggest bee, about the size of a human thumb. Thought to be lost and maybe extinct, a team of scientists, including University of Sydney Honorary Professor Simon Robson, rediscovered it in the Indonesian forests on North Molucca in January 2019.
