I’m proud of you!” I’m sorry, but if affirmations and positive statements telling me how special I am is what passes for “mental health” advice these days, then we’re just pouring kerosene on a goddamn dumpster fire. Because this doesn’t promote emotional stability; it promotes self-absorption.
