“Beautiful Far Away“ is a song by composer Yevgeny Krylatov with lyrics by poet Yuri Entin. It gained popularity after its debut in the 1985 film “Guest from the Future.“ In March 1985, during the spring school holidays, Central Television began airing the children's television film “Guest from the Future.“ At the end of the film, a song with the lyrics “beautiful far away“ by Yuri Entin to the melody of Yevgeny Krylatov was featured. Certain parts of the melody had been heard earlier in the film. The song in the film was performed by Tatyana Daskovskaya. However, Krylatov was not satisfied with her performance, so he suggested that the trio “Meridian“ record their version. After a month of rehearsals in Ivanovo, “Meridian“ came to Moscow and presented their version to Krylatov. The composer was pleased but made some authorial adjustments during the recording.
