Almost nothing is known about his life and career. He probably was the son of Antônio de Souza Lôbo, the “Patriarca Musical de Vila Rica“. He was active as a member of the brotherhood Irmandade de São José dos Homens Pardos and from 1780 he was appointed organist of several churches in Vila Rica in a post he held until his death. As a composer, he mainly wrote sacred music, among them, Domingo de Ramos, Matinas de Santo Antonio e Responsórios de São Francisco de Assis. He probably was the father of the composer Jerônimo de Souza Lobo Queiroz (?-1826)
