On November 8, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad of the Republic of the Congo Jean-Claude Gakosso held a meeting on the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi. The Ministers discussed a range of issues related to strengthening of the traditionally friendly Russian-Congolese ties, including building up mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation with a focus on joint implementation of promising projects in energy, creation of infrastructure facilities, use of peaceful atom, and countering infectious diseases. Moscow and Brazzaville also confirmed their unwavering commitment to deepening political dialogue on pressing regional and international issues at the UN and other multilateral platforms.
