Police took a man into custody after an hours-long standoff that stretched from the morning into the afternoon. Court documents for Michael Oswalt, 41, of Bellville, Ohio, said an accident involving multiple vehicles happened near I-70 EB and I71 SB. Described as being in the midst of a mental health crisis, detectives wrote that he began throwing objects at officers responding. One of the objects reportedly struck an officer in the face. Sgt. James Fuqua with the Public Information Unit said the man began acting erratically after the traffic accident. At one point, he started banging on cars and threatening to jump off the ramp from 70 to 71. The incident began around 9:15 a.m. and lasted until around 1:40 p.m. Full story: # _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: WSYX on Facebook: WSYX on Twitter: WSYX on Instagram: Subscribe to WSYX on YouTube: Daily News Playlist: For more information, visit Have a news tip?
