Proto Hologram is betting that companies will view their 7-foot-tall holographic projection boxes as an alternative for in-person meetings. At least a half-dozen startups and giants like Google and Microsoft already are. How can you be somewhere without actually being there? According to Proto, the answer lies in “holoportaion.“ Proto devices are life sized high definition hologram projection boxes with shadows that can operate in brightly lit rooms giving the illusion of lifelike human imagery. Founder David Nussbaum has a long history with hologram technology and is known for controversially bring Tupac back to life in digital form for a Coachella performance in 2012. With Proto he hopes to expand this technology from being able to diagnose patients in real time, to avoiding business flights for in-person meetings. Like this video?
