A young boy, Higashi Ichiro, lives on the water aboard the Daruma boat “Higashi Maru“ with his five younger brothers, his younger sister Nanako, and his father Kosuke . On his first day at “Kashi Junior High School“ in Sumida Ward , Tokyo, Ichiro becomes popular at school after beating down two rampaging bulls that have invaded the school, and is recruited by various sports clubs. One day, Ichiro is recruited by the wrestling club led by upperclassman Yamahiko Tadashi, and he challenges Yamahiko to a wrestling match, but is easily defeated by the seemingly weak Yamahiko. This incident sparks an interest in wrestling, and Ichiro joins the wrestling club and begins to train hard with the aim of competing in the Mexico City Olympics .
