A heavy bout of rainfall battered South China's Guangdong Province on April 18, flooding streets and causing traffic disruption, while other areas were hit with strong winds and hailstones. The local meteorological observatory in the city of Zhuhai issued an orange warning alert for rainstorms at 17:10, the second highest level of China's four-tier color-coded alert system.
