Thinking about writing an introduction to this dialogue, I’ve realized there were plenty of moments when I was totally lost without being able to understand what was going on but had to pretend that everything was under control. Reflecting on this feeling of being lost, I came up with the conclusion that the way I actually handled it during the conversation for the most part was quite stupid. Instead of asking more questions to try to figure out what’s been said, I made superficial interpretations of that and moved on to the places where I could feel more comfortable. My desire to appear intelligent in the public eyes was constantly competing with the desire to learn more from the conversation at the expense of my self-image. One thing which I’ve certainly learned from this dialogue is that I know less than I think I know. I guess I learn this from every step I take, but not every step makes me think and revise my knowledge.
