May 20, 2017 Drawing Hands | Proko There’s a lot more to hands than bones and muscles. Bones and muscles give it structure, but drawing the surface details like fat, skin, veins and nails shows the character, give hands more expression, and make your drawings look realistic. Full anatomy course at I’ve poured all my experience into this hand lesson series. I’ll teach you hands in 4 parts… Part 1 explored the muscles of the hand and how to draw them. Part 2 (this lesson) teaches all the surface details, like fingernails, skin folds, and fat pads. In Part 3, I’ll show you a drawing process for drawing hands from reference or from your imagination. Part 4 is a treat: there’s 6 drawing demos, teaching you how to draw everything from relaxed poses to clenched fists. I even talk about foreshortening! In this lesson you’ll learn about how fingernails can define perspective, how skin folds can create realism and enhance the gesture, and how the fat pads can react to a hand’s movements. Want more?
