In this odeon, history is currently fully present and very productive! Herodeion is still the host to various theatrical and musical events of the Athens Festival. In terms of architecture, is a typical Roman odeum. It has a semicircular plan. Its cavea is divided into two horizontal tiers and five cunei. people could sit. Orchestra is paved and the poros wall of the skene is 28 meter high and still stands! The roof however was destroyed in 267 A.D. and never repaired. Its acoustic is marvelous and the feeling of watching an event there during a summer athenian night is priceless! In a way, it fills the gap between the ancient Greek period and the Roman period of Athens, while continues to give us precious moments of pure joy.
