Unions, professionals, blue-collar workers, retirees, students and others vowed to fight pension reforms, protesting in Paris and other cities on Wednesday as French President Emmanuel Macron's highly-unpopular bill to raise the retirement age by two years moved forward in parliament. In Paris, riot police had a heavy presence in the protest march, moving to quickly control unruly protesters. The march largely took place peacefully. The bill will be voted on by the lower house of parliament on Thursday.
