Николо-Бабаевский мужской монастырь. Святая Русь. Монастыри россии. Nikolo-Babaevsky Monastery. Between Kostroma and Yaroslavl, near the village of Bolshiye Soli, there is the Nikolo-Babaevsky Monastery. It was founded in the 15th century in a place called Babayki. Babaykas are large oars that were used instead of a rudder on rafts when rafting wood down the Volga from the Sheksna and Mologa rivers. The timber merchants left these oars at the mouth of the Solonitsa River, where it flowed into the Volga. Babies were piled up on the shore next to that place on which the monastery is now located. Hence the name of the Babaevsky monastery. In the XIV century, an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was found on one of the babayas who sailed here. This was the reason for the founding of the monastery. The icon was originally placed in an oak grove. One of the disciples of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the monk John, is considered the founder of the monastery. Until the middle of the 17th century, the monastery was completely wooden. In 1719, a fire broke out in the monastery, which burned down most of the monastery property and archive. The beginning of the 20th century was just as stormy and catastrophic for the monastery as it was for the whole of Russia. Everything that has been created over the centuries turned into heaps of ruins. This fate did not escape the Babaevsky Monastery. By the beginning of the 20s, divine service in the cathedral church stopped. On the territory of the monastery, a Kostroma orphanage was organized, and then a school for rural youth. The state farm “Revolution“ was also located here, then the regional executive committee. Church buildings inside the monastery were gradually dismantled. In the mid-30s, they began to dismantle the cathedral church into bricks and take away to the village of Krasny Profintern for the construction of a bath. However, the quality and strength of the walls of the temple were so high, that it did not lend itself to further disassembly, so in 1940 it was decided to blow it up. During the Second World War, there was an evacuation hospital here. After When the hospital was closed, there was a children's labor colony, and then a children's bone and tuberculosis sanatorium. In 1998 the monastery became active again. Abbot Boris (Dolzhenko) was appointed its rector. Is currently underway work to restore the entire monastery. The temple in honor of St. Sergius and St. John Chrysostom, the temple in honor of the Iberian Mother of God and the temple in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker were rebuilt. The monastery and patronal feast of the monastery is the day of the Nativity of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which falls on on July 29 Church Style (August 11 New Style). #ярославль #ярославскаяобласть #россия #монастырь #святыеместа #святые #вера #религия #бог #dronevideo #mavic #церковь #храм #святынироссии #russia =========================================================== music: Follow us on Soundcloud: @sam_relaxation Subscribe us on YouTube: …ub_confirmation=1 Like us on Facebook: …-202629551796484 Follow us on twitter:
