One year after the deadly earthquake an estimated four million people are still living in temporary and unsafe shelters. The roads have been cleared and the businesses have reopened, but not one ruined home had been rebuilt. Sadly, the earth’s rumbling seams yet so fresh here. Meanwhile the people had no chance but to take the matter in their hands. They are united to work together to overcome the crisis. I have seen families working together to clean the rubble and to improve their thin shelters. I have seen child labor, homeless kids for whom life is still a challenge. The Earthquake shook the ground but never people’s beliefs. It has certainly set them back but has not taken away their dignity and solidarity. They might have been left with nothing but they are more welcoming than ever. The best way to give them a helping hand is to go to Nepal in vacation. Tourism is the lifeblood of Nepalese economy and if you are serious about helping them, don’t just give money, go visit.
