Join us for the Award Ceremony of #Locarno77! After 10 magical days around the Piazza Grande, it’s time to celebrate and honor the many films and directors from all the competition sections of Locarno Film Festival. Under Jury President Jessica Hausner, a jury consisting of Diana Elbaum, Payal Kapadia, Luca Marinelli and Tim Blake Nelson is tasked with handing out the prizes for Concorso internazionale, including the prestigious Pardo d'oro. First Feature Jury members Khalil Benkirane, Alma Pöysti and Esmé Sciaroni will hand out the MUBI Award – Debut Feature to a debuting filmmaker across the various Locarno sections. Meanwhile, Pardo Verde Jury Kantarama Gahigiri, Cédric Succivalli and Daniel Wiener awards the Festival's green prize to a film, across any of the Festival's competition sections, which best reflects an environmental theme and is unafraid of asking difficult questions. The ceremony, held in GranRex, is presented by Sandy Altermatt. ___ Subscribe to our newsletter: About Locarno Film Festival: Conceived in 1946 in the aftermath of World War II, the Locarno Film Festival was destined to be a platform for the rebirth of freedom of artistic expression, and since its inception the annual event has hosted the boldest, most avant-garde and innovative forms of filmmaking. Lying between the mountains and the Swiss shore of Lake Maggiore, once a year the city of Locarno is decked out in the yellow-and-black Leopard spotting of the Festival colors to host an intensive, 11-day celebration of cinema.
