Merseyside Police arrested a man and seized a flick knife near the vigil in Southport this evening. The 32-year-old man was arrested at around 6:50pm after police received a report. Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “We know too well the devastating impact knife crime can have for victims, their families and friends, and those who carry them. “This week has seen an unspeakable tragedy unfold in Southport, and this incident occurred a short distance from where a vigil had been happening where the community was paying their respects to all those affected. “Officers made a swift arrest and have seized a knife that could have been used to cause harm in our communities.“Those offenders who carry them have no place whatsoever in our communities. “Every day we are carrying out stop checks, warrants and land searches to take knives off our streets, but as this incident shows, the assistance of members of the public in telling us where they are stored and who is carrying them is vital to ensure the safety of families and residents.“ Protests and anger has broken out in Southport after the three girls killed in the stabbing attack. Eight more children were injured in the “ferocious“ attack, five of whom in a critical condition in hospital, along with two adults. Considering what’s happened over the past few weeks, months and years with such incidents in our country. It’s no surprise that people are angry and at breaking point. Of course the mainstream media will point finger and push their agenda but the big question is…. What will the uk government do about all these issues? They can’t keep standing down and doing nothing. Things need to change otherwise such incidents will become the norm. People are rightfully angry and demand action and these problems can no longer be brushed under the rug. Merseyside police say rioters are believed to be supporters of the English Defence League. How is that even possible when the EDL is a defunct organisation. It no longer exists. The people protesting are normal men of the community that are fed up and want action and accountability and change. Police said they are not treating the attack as terror-related, but that they were still unclear on the motive. Officers said in a press conference on Monday that a 17-year-old suspect had been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
