ERUPTION FEAT. JANE JAMES Eruption had had two big international sellers with I Can't Stand The Rain and One Way Ticket, both sung by Precious Wilson, and a third German Top 10 single with Go Johnnie Go (1980), sung by their new lead singer Kim Davis who sadly passed away from a brain hemorrhage. The group had recruited Jane James to fulfill their tour and TV commitments, and this new constellation released the single Runaway January '81, hitting #21 in the German charts. Hansa showed no interest in the intended follow-up Baby Don't Go and instead released the single You with the late Kim Davis. Eruption left the label and signed with Ralph Siegel's Jupiter Records where the first single In A Thousand Years was released towards the end of 1981, produced by Werner Schüler & Michael Hoffmann. Joy To The World followed in 1982, and a medley of the Four Tops classics I Can't Help Myself/It's The Same Old Song followed in the spring of 1983. None of them were successful in the charts, and neither was the LP Our Way where the group tried to update their sounds for the 80s. A fourth single Sophisticated Lady (not included in the album) followed but failed to chart as well. I have expanded the LP with Sophisticated Lady and the long version of I Can't Help Myself and created a fantasy back cover of what the LP could have looked like, had it been released by Hansa. 00:00 A1.
