Hi, I'm Pat 👋 and this is my back garden in the West of Sheffield, which is a city in the North of England. ---News--- 🍽️ 18th March: There will be some food in the feeder tonight. 🌝 There are up to 4 nights off feeding every week. I don't feed at night for at least half of the time for minimum impact to the area and to be sure the animals are continuing to forage naturally. They still come anyway regardless and always have, years before I ever popped some peanuts down! So keep a beady eye on a night off and you may spot one or two badgers and foxes passing through. 🪺 I've installed a nest box for blackbirds/robins that has its own stream. You can see it at: 🪹 There is some nesting material out for the birds also (alpaca wool). 📍 Add yourself to the new community map, should you wish! See: 🍽 Night time ground feeder tray feeds are off while there could be visits from rodents. Special nights of it may happen every so often if I can babysit them. I tread a fine line doing any feeding and making sure I'm not causing problems in the area and so having food lying around uneaten is undesirable. The new rodent-proof mammal feeder is used instead after some work to quieten it. 🐦 The feral pigeons ('ferals') are still around. They are aggressive, anti-social feeders and tend to multiply in numbers when there is easy access to food. Their numbers are fluctuating, so I'm keeping a feral-like beady eye on it. If there’s a cage down in the daytime, then it's in order to calm their numbers. ---Info--- Here you can watch hungry mammals at night and pretty birbs in the day! Yes, birbs! It became common parlance that I am 'doing the birbs' when I am tending to this, so now you must put up with this weirdness. Please do stick about, read on for all the details you never wanted to know, subscribe & enjoy the calming ambient noises.* *subject to builders not making a racket I'm not here all the time so I have excellent mods (Emz & Tom Burns) to keep some kind of order. Please keep it nice and friendly! Situated near to the Rivelin Valley Nature Trail, this stream shows a selection of views from 15 cameras in the garden depending on what kind of feeding day/night it is. There are a further 5 cameras covering nest boxes elsewhere. The sound on the stream is filtered to reduce background noise for privacy reasons and may be muted from time to time. The water features come on early in the morning and go off late at night also for this reason. At , the layout switches to make the ground feeder and lawn more prominent as that is where most of the action occurs overnight. It switches back at 6am. ---Links--- ⭐️ New Community Map! There are now 20 cameras scattered round the side & back of my house 🤪 The garden is in a fairly built-up area so you are seeing the wildlife that likes to live in the city. This doesn't stop badgers & foxes visiting every night however. The table and hanging feeders are used for the birds in the day & the ground feeder for the mammals at night. There is water available in a refilling bowl, water features and the bird bath for all the creatures. As for what you may see on the stream, see the links above for the rogues gallery and picture books made by Emz and Leo! Enjoy!
