Scenes of destruction still dominate the city landscape of Mosul seven years after it fell under the control of the so-called Islamic State, as drone footage filmed on Thursday shows. Nowadays, Mosul residents are still suffering from a lack of governmental support and reconstruction efforts, especially in the old city, where residents are not able to return yet. The city remained under the control of the Islamic State from June 2014 until July 2017 when joint operations ended ISIS control.
