In 1976, Malone and Lou Reizner covered a Beatles song, “You Never Give Me Your Money“, for the musical documentary All This and World War II. Malone also did the string arrangements for several songs by collaborative techno group UNKLE. He produced Iron Maiden's debut Lp in 1980. He's one of Britain's best kept secrets, both in terms of production, strings arrangements (Black Sabbath in the 70's, Opeth and many more) and music. His solo album from 1970 as well as the Bobak, Jons, Malone “Motherlight“ Lp from 1969 are both well worth investigating even if it's nowehere close to being “heavy rock“. The former is a gentle Nick Drake-ish beautiful orchestrated record. The latter is a super-wierd (but compelling) psychedelic rock outburst. Probably made between recordings at Morgan studios. 3 top producers of the era made this twisted piece. Mike Bobak, Andy Johns, and Wil Malone himself. Most people will know Malone for orchestrating the “borrowed“ strings on The Verve's “Bittersweet symphony“. The original score were of course first heard on “The last time“ by The Rolling Stones. Malone has been involved with so many known (and unknown) releases over the years it's simply mind boggling. Malone released an eponymous solo album in 1970 and another called Motherlight and composed the score for the cult horror film Death Line in 1972. Currently recording Strings and Choir for Ozzie Osbourne’s new album. 2019 has seen Wil work with: Kandace Springs, Michael Patrick Kelly, Tom Grennan, Take That and, with Unkle/James Lavelle on music for the TV series “Trust“.
