Convertible Car (1948)

Bicester, Oxfordshire. L/S of a car coming round the corner of a churchyard in a village. The driver makes an adjustment to the roof inside the car, then gets out and opens the rear trunk door. The whole roof folds down on hinges, inside the boot to turn the car into a convertible. The windows and roof supports fold down into sides of the car. The driver sets off again, driving through the countryside and past a horse and cart with a haystack on top. Commentator says “Just another way in which British skill is making life easier for travellers“. Note: driver could be inventor / designer JRV Dolphin, who came up with this idea.
