1993 Stanley Cup playoffs - The Habs' Jacques Demers, Eric Desjardins, and Kirk Muller talk about Dale Hunter's blindside hit on Pierre Turgeon in the series-clinching game between the Capitals and N.Y. Islanders The infamous cheap shot happened in Game 6 of the first round series on April 28, 1993 at Nassau Coliseum - Pierre Turgeon had just scored for the Islanders in the 3rd period and was raising his arms in celebration when Dale Hunter came up from behind and rammed him into the boards Turgeon suffered a separated shoulder and was sidelined for the duration of the Islanders' second round series vs Pittsburgh In his first disciplinary ruling as NHL commissioner, Gary Bettman suspended Hunter without pay for the first 21 games of the 1993-94 season ( all preseason games). It was the longest suspension for an on-ice incident in NHL history
