A soldier then fires back with an over-the-shoulder rocket launcher. Ukraine’s military intelligence says the missile hit the plane and damaged it. The jet was forced to abandon its attack and return to a nearby airfield, they said. Snake Island is a small but strategic spit of land located in the Black Sea. Russia captured it on the first day of the war, using the warship Moskva. The island’s defenders memorably told the captain ‘Russian warship, go f*** yourself.’ But Ukraine retook the island last year after the Moskva was sunk.
