Skip to 6:50 to see her in action. Right now I have been using a 1/2“ double fluted straight router bit but I think an up-spiral bit would cut and plunge much better. I also didn't realize the 2 routered slots on the top were directly over the side and ended up having to cut a few holes in the side to get the blots through the top.
