Fray Tormenta, born Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez, was a Mexican Catholic priest who turned to professional wrestling in order to support his orphanage. Inspired by films and driven by a commitment to care for orphaned children, he adopted the masked persona of Fray Tormenta, meaning “Friar Storm.“ And for over two decades, he led a double life: by day, he was a dedicated priest caring for orphans, and by night, a luchador in the wrestling ring. His efforts raised enough money to sustain his orphanage, providing food, shelter, and education for hundreds of children. Directly inspiring the 2006 film “Nacho Libre,“ starring Jack Black.
