There are three parts of the Magic Paintbrush movie on YouTube, but I think they should be seen altogether as a whole. Don’t you agree, folks? The Magic Paintbrush is about an orphan who receives an enchanted brush that makes his paintings real. According to a press release, McDonald’s Family Theater debuted the cartoon on Thursday, April 22, 1993 at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on CBS to mark National Library Week (April 18-24, 1993). (The cartoon is based on a book.) For anyone interested, the orphans’ names are based on the credits listing which characters speak and sing in this cartoon. * Nib - Of course, he’s the main character, the boy who receives the magic paintbrush * Sara - Nib’s sister * Reuben - The boy with the military outfit * Anthony - The boy with the top hat & umbrella * Haley - The little girl clutching the doll * Nicholas - The boy with the harmonica * “Unicycle Twins“ (I wonder what they should be called?) - They are seen, but they don’t speak. They are drawn to sing, but apparently no one performed their specific voices. They are not listed in the credits.
