Bassline AS PLAYED note-for-note from the Machine Head LP by British bassist, Roger Glover. My 2nd Rickenbacker bass hero, Roger Glover, a really underrated rock bass player ever--according to many, and certainly one of the best. My aim in this video is to showcase the pure vintage sound and distinctive growl from this bass guitar, the tone depends also on how I pluck the strings and where I play, so you can hear how its varied tones compliment the song. #deeppurplecover #deeppurplebasscover #deeppurple #rogerglover #rickenbacker #4001 #4003 #rickenbackerbass #progrock #lazy #rickenbacker4001 #bass #bassguitar #bassplayer #basscover #rickenbacker4003 #checkeredbinding #progrock #bassplayer #bassplayers #bass #rockbass #progrockbass #progrock #bassguitar #basscover #basscovers #toaster #bassplayersofinstagram #bassboosted #bassist #bassisti #bassiste #giggingbassplayer #bassplayersunited #bassplayersclub #progrockbass #bestbassever #bestbassmusic #70s #70smusic #70sprog My bass is a vintage Rickenbacker 4001, manufactured in May of 1973--the first month of production for Rickenbacker 4001 basses with reduced size triangular fret markers. Both pickups are original. I need the space to play, so I covered up the bridge pickup 'hole' with a sheet of copper, anodized gold and made locally from my design. I luv the signature tone and growl of this bass. This bass has a new set of Rotosound 66 medium gauge roundwound strings and is played through a Marshall B25 MK II amp. No additional electronics or pre-amp used in this video. Note: I own no part of this music in this video. Purely educational and instructional so as to show aspiring bass players where to place their fingers on the fretboard of the bass guitar.
