While walking around the site to understand the aura of that place, Architect Krishnarao Jaisim was quick to notice the presence of Banni trees all around. That, along with the owners always welcoming everyone to their house, he knew the residence had to be called “Banni Residence“ because the word Banni in Kannada means 'Please Come'. The owners wanted an organically flowing house, fully made of local and natural materials. A house that would breathe by itself; Spaces where light can play around and create some drama throughout the day, but most importantly, a house where spaces can be flexible and undefined. To download the full PDF eBook of Banni Residence in Malavalli, Karnataka with floor plans, materials used, construction techniques and so much more, please visit: Exposed red bricks are placed vertically to run around the curved walls, handmade and custom-made pots are used in the ceiling for the filler slab, and the highlight of the house, the central skylight designed in the shape of a whirlpool that becomes the main source of light in the entire house are some of the main features that are a highlight in every space.
