This is the latest piece for my /_ARK_/ project. The final version can be found on Artstation, here: I’ve recorded the whole process for this image and split it into three sections. This is the first video, “Part I: Composition Ideas and Mood Painting - using Custom Shapes in Photoshop”. Basically the video focuses on creating a variety of ideas, using Custom Shapes in Photoshop, and results in a very rough mood painting to establish a little bit of atmosphere and colour. All very rough at this stage, but it helps give me a more solid idea of what I want to accomplish. This image is then used as a basis to start 3D modelling in Part II. The majority of Custom Shapes used here, I created myself. I also used some Sci-Fi shapes created by Long Pham too. His Custom Shapes are incredibly useful and they’re available here: The other videos for this series include: Part II: 3D Modelling and Render - using SketchUp and Keyshot - available here: Part III: Digital Paint Over - using Photoshop - available here: I hope some of you find the videos useful :) Cheers!
