Props to Eric Dias who asked for a remix, this is dedicated to you. Gloria Gaynor was an immediate hit in the clubs with her “Never Can Say Goodbye“ back in 1974-75. Her first solo release was “Honey Bee“, released on Columbia and was strangely mixed, with the garage rock like sound of a prominent fuzz guitar failing to conmnect on the pop chart. When that sank, she changed labels and producers, gaining the services of a young Tom Moulton in the process. “Honeybee“ was retitled and redone and put on her first LP, “Never Can Say Goodbye“ as part of a side long disco suite where all three songs were segued together beat on beat like the clubs were beginning to peg into. This was the first time a disco album was pre-mixed. Her second LP, the 1975 “Experience“ contained another side long suite with “Casanova Brown/(If You Want It) Do It Yourself/How High The Moon“ that blazed a path right to #1 on the disco chart for the week ending October 18, 1975.
