Without question, one of my all time favourite airliners, and certainly my fave Russian liner. VERY RARE footage here of one of the early production models making two passes at the Tushino Air Show in 1961, the same year the bird entered service. Only 31 were ever built, and except for one crash on take-off due to pilot error, she maintained a perfect safety record during her career, which spanned from 1961-76. Most all the airframes were later modified into the TU-126 “Moss“ (NATO Code Name), and served the Red Army as AWACS aircraft. Not to be missed by “Rossiya“ fans!!
