Flash flood, Sydney and Illawarra sanks in 24 hours Persistent rain continued overnight across much of central and southern New South Wales, causing river flooding and flash flooding in some places. Vehicles were flooded, houses were submerged, roads were blocked as rivers flowed through the streets. Heavy rain led to 63 flood rescues across Sydney and the Illawarra, including at Unanderra, Cringilla, Albion Park and Warrawong.
