The effects of the blizzard were evident throughout the Buffalo area. Numerous road accidents were reported throughout the day. Numerous flights have been canceled at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Heavy snowfall fell at a rate of 1 to 3 inches of snow per hour. The snow strip was narrow, only about 10 miles wide, according to the National Meteorological Service. But the storm is already breaking records. By 1 p.m., 14.1 inches of snow had fallen in the Buffalo Niagara International Airport area. Which is nearly double the old daily record set on January 6, 1974.
