The irrepressible, prolific Damián Antón Ojeda joins up with new mysterious project Jymeria for a split of majestically mournful, emotively shimmering atmospheric post black metal. Two long-form tracks each, at 20 minutes a side make for an immersive listen that wastes no time reaching heady plateaus of swirling synths, stratospheric riffs and a sense of everlasting melancholic yearning. The two Sadness tracks do not disappoint at all, and will be familiar territory to existing fans, while the fully instrumental Jymeria side adds a little more tumultuous noise and churning hypnotics to the second half that are a satisfying, searingly earthy foil, with crackling distortion filling the vocal space, complementing Damian’s piercing shrieks of the first half.
