These people help with fighters’ spiritual needs. Protoiereus Viktor Ivanov and Imam Hamza-hazrat Hafizov are military chaplains. They spend most of their time on the frontline with fighters from Bashkiria, Russia, only going home on vacation every now and then. Chaplains believe that everyone needs spiritual support in the battle zone. ‘The fighters who have seen death wait for a visit from us eagerly. They don’t even want to let us go’, the Imam said.
