Solar and wind powers are very suitable alternatives for dwindling oil and coal resources as sources of energy. They are environment friendly and sustainable. Iran has high potentials in producing energy from solar and wind powers. For example, there are 300 sunny days a year in almost 80% of Iran. The Iranian government has initiated many plans and projects to drastically increase the share of renewable energies in Iran’s energy mix that is currently dominated by hydrocarbons, natural gas, and petroleum derivatives. Furthermore, Iran is able to domestically provide almost all necessary equipment for producing electricity by wind or solar power. To have a better understanding of this industry, we visited Saba Central Power Generation Company that is a sub-company operating under Saba Power and Energy Industry Holding company. Saba Power and Energy Group was the first private firm that invested in the Iranian electricity industry. Watch bazaar!
