Follow me on Twitter @ Get Great Retro Scene News @ Developed by Alexandria Inc. and published by Acclaim in 1995 A pretty late game, both in terms of the Sega Genesis' life-span, as well as coming out 2 years after the film was released. I recall renting this from a Blockbuster video store one weekend and being fairly impressed with it, although it's really tough. Based on the 1993 action film starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes, players must help 20th century super-cop John Spartan prevent psychopath Simon Phoenix from bringing anarchy to the ever-so-clean-cut future-city of San Angeles. For me, the free-running-and-gunning sections are the highlight: they look look impressive, and there's a sense of satisfaction if you can chain ducks, dives and rolls into the gun-play, but the jerky enemy animations and timing often make this quite difficult. The top-down shooting sections are decent enough, although I wouldn't say they're particularly exciting; wave-upon-wave of triggered enemy spawns and one-hit kill laser turrets in the library level take a lot of the fun out of them. All things considered, Demolition Man is probably one of the better move licences out there. It has decent visuals, plenty of action, and doesn't take too much liberty with the source material.
