One of a series of short films produced in 1969 by Charles Grinker and Mert Koplin, “Which Way USA -- Black Views on Race“ provided brief portraits of many African American leaders including Martin Luther King, Cassius Clay, James Brown, Bobby Seale, and others. This episode features Malcom X (1925-1965), originally named Malcolm Little. Malcolm X was a leader of the Nation of Islam and a prominent proponent of African American racial pride and Black nationalism, whose voice served as a counterpoint to that of Dr. Martin Luther King. He was assassinated in 1965. His book, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, remains influential.
