There is a popular myth that after the end of the Second World War Britain wanted staff from the Caribbean to work on the buses and underground trains in London. This scheme was actually initiated by Barbados and Jamaica, due to high unemployment in those countries. It was intended to benefit Caribbean countries, not Britain. London
