What we see here is a simulation of plasma interactions between #Comet67P and the solar wind around perihelion, the point in the orbit of Comet 67p when it was closest to the sun. ESA’s Rosetta mission was launched in 2004 and arrived at the comet on 6 August 2014. It was the first mission in history to rendezvous with a comet, escort it as it orbits the Sun, and deploy a lander, Philae, to its surface. The mission ended on 30 September 2016 and, with a wealth of data still being exploited, continues to deliver unprecedented insights and results.
